2026 Winter Transfer window Predictions

As 2025 wraps up and 2026 begins the Premier league Transfer window opens and with it endless possibilities of who knows what. What players are staying? Which players are leaving? Who is making the big winter transfer deal? Every team needs to switch things up, some more than others.

Liverpool’s Arne Slot insists they do not have “unlimited money” despite the impression given by their summer spending spree of almost 450 millions euros, yet mistakes from that extravagant window need addressing. The big signings like Isak and Wirtz have made a lot of fans question the decisions made by slot. Wirtz finally got his first Premier league goal against Wolves this past week after signing to the team with a hefty price tag of about 125 million euros at the beginning of the season. Alexander Isak who gave Liverpool so much hassle in the first place to even being signed till the literal last minute of the transfer window hasn’t performed as well as some would hope with him having a price tag of almost 150 million euros. Most of the season he has been riding the bench or out on injury. When he has been good to play he hasn’t played as long as he would have hoped averaging about 55-65 minutes of playing time over 10 games and scoring only 2 goals in that time.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester city has one main player in sights, Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo. If the 25-year-old agrees to terms and does give the transfer the green light – his clause has to be activated early in January – Guardiola, who prefers a smaller squad, will hope to offload at least one wide player, so Savinho or Oscar Bobb could depart too. Talks of sending James trafford out on loan, the original keeper that Pep signed before getting Donnarumma and making him the first choice are in the air.

Manchester United were also in talks to acquire Semenyo until the player signaled he was more interested in City than United. However the midfield is the main POI for manager, Ruben Amorim, looking at Al-Hilal’s Rúben Neves and Atlético Madrid’s Conor Gallagher to fill those spots. Man united have a long way to go before they are back at a threatening level but could these players add or take away from the already deflated Red devils.

More premier teams are looking to make changes and while AFCON is happening the outcome and direction of teams could vary depending out how players and team perform during that tournament.
