After two disappointing, and one potentially disappointing season, there are three big players whose names can potentially make a stir this offseason, Auston Matthews, Brady Tkachuk and Connor McDavid.

Although McDavid’s fate with the Oilers is almost entirely resting on how they perform in the playoffs this season and with a less-than-ideal matchup against Anaheim currently, if things don’t go well for Edmonton, McDavid is likely to want out. Where he may go is up for debate, but what everyone can see is that he is seemingly becoming fed up with Edmonton and even though he is currently playing through injury and partially to blame for their current playoff struggles, Edmonton will want to retain value on him after this season if things go south and he does not plan to resign.

Auston Matthews name has been thrown around quite a bit, and if Toronto somehow in any universe lands McDavid, Matthews is likely to stay, but the talk of Toronto at the moment is if Matthews will stay or go. After losing Marner last year, Toronto regressed terribly from the playoff team they were a year prior, and unless they can land a high priority target to play alongside their captain, it is likely that the Leaf’s will want to potentially head into another rebuild.

Brady Tkachuk is my last big name offseason watchlist player. Rumors of him being a trade target have been circulating for years, but after Ottawa’s, frankly, horrible performance in the playoffs, trading Brady for value while he’s hot is becoming increasingly more likely.

This offseason is gearing up to be a big one. Who do you think will be the biggest move this year?
