Champions League: Match day 5 comes and goes.

As quick as it came, Match day 5 is over, and with it a mix of emotions for a handful of teams.

Arsenal giving FC Bayern their first loss of the season. You read that right, Arsenal gave the 11 time Bundesliga winners their first loss of this season. With goals from Matinelli, Madueke and Timber this win not only ended Bayern’s undefeated streak but also put Arsenal at the top of the Champions league table.

However a different Bundesliga team had better luck against an even bigger Premier league team, Bayer Leverkusen put 2 in the back of the net against Manchester City and all while keeping a nice clean sheet. PSV gave the current Premier league champions, Liverpool an absolute thrashing of 4-1. Seems like all that money they spent isn’t worth it. Other upsets included Club world cup winners, Chelsea, destroying a 10 man Barcelona with newly signed Brazilian winger, Estêvão putting on a brilliant performance that not only hushed Barcelona but the tabloids and news outlets as well. Pitting the two young superstars against each other. Lamine yamal was looking to be the one to make an incredible performance as well as highlights but Estêvão and Chelsea had a different idea. Chelsea defender and Spanish teammate to Yamal shut the boy wonder down with ease earning him a well deserved Man of the Match award.

Current champions league winners PSG, although down to 10 men in their match still won with the final score being 5-3 against Spurs. Real Madrid although giving up an early goal against Olympiacos came back to win 4-3, with every goal for Madrid coming from French Superstar, Kylian Mbappe. With those 4 goals he now sits at the top of the “Top scorer” leader board he also scored the 2nd fastest hat-trick, 7 minutes, in champions league history during that match as well.

There were a lot more performances from Tuesday and Wednesday matches that made many, myself included: applaud, yell, cheer and gasp at the spectacle know as the beautiful game. Who from the top 8 below will stay here at the end of league phase run? Will Arsenal stay on top? Will Bayern receive more losses? Will new superstars emerge from this competition or is this it?
