Milwaukee Bucks Star Giannis Antetokounmpo sent NBA fans into a frenzy when he opened up about his frustration with the current status of the struggling team. Once rumors were confirmed that Giannis and his agent Alex Saratsis planned to meet with the Bucks to discuss their future endeavors, all hell broke loose across social media. Every fan base clamoring for the Bucks’ star player, but who actually could land the Greek Freak?
New York Knicks
The Knicks emerge as the clear favorite, after all over the summer New York was one place Giannis mentioned he wanted to be in. The Knicks would likely have to part ways with Karl-Anthony Towns midway through his second year with the team, as well as any young talent like Tyler Kolek or Miles McBride, in addition to at least a few 1st rounders. But with them being Giannis’ clear preferred destination, they are far and away the favorite.
San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs were a team mentioned numerous times around draft season when they acquired the number 2 overall pick. They held on and drafted Dylan Harper, but with De’Aaron Fox and a growing Stephon Castle jamming the guard position, San Antonio could be quick to try and trade Harper and perhaps a few other picks to create the best front court the NBA may have ever seen between Giannis and Victor Wembanyama.
Miami Heat
The Miami Heat have been inked to Giannis going all the way back to the bubble, and now could be there chance to make a splash. With plenty of young talent like Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez, Nikola Jovic, and more, the bigger question for Miami is 1 can they trade Terry Rozier and dump his salary, and 2 do they have the picks to make this deal enticing enough without including guys like Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro.
Atlanta Hawks
With Trae Young on the hot seat this could be a perfect time for the Hawks to move the all star point guard for Giannis. Jalen Johnson has taken a leap and is likely untouchable, but should the Hawks include him, or former number one pick Zacharrie Risacher in a trade, the Hawks very well might have the best package.
Houston Rockets
Houston very well may not want to touch the roster they’ve built as they sit comfortable among the top teams in the West, however they know OKC is not going away, and as good as Alperen Sengun is at time, Giannis is by far the more efficient player. Should Houston go all in on this window with KD, this is a move that could one hundred percent propel them above Oklahoma City should the team retain a decent bit of its talent. But acquiring a player like Giannis won’t be cheap, and Houston does not have much trade capital after getting Durant in the offseason.
Golden State Warriors
Similar to the Rockets, Golden State is trying to make the most of the time they have left with Stephen Curry. The Warriors, unlike some, have the ability to offer up to 4 first round picks in a deal for Giannis. Add in Buddy Hield and Jonathan Kuminga and you have a decent package. The Warriors should be very aggressive in their pursuit of Giannis especially if they want to show Steph they have aspirations of another ring.
