Carlos Alcaraz completes Career Grand Slam

The youngest man to ever complete the career Grand Slam on the tennis court has been crowned, as at 22 years and 272 days old, Carlos Alcaraz topped Novak Djokovic for the win at the Australian Open.

Entering the match, Djokovic was 10-0 in the final of the competition. Alcaraz won it in just over three hours (2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5).

It was in question how Alcaraz would play in the final, as in the semifinal against Alexander Zverev, which was a five-and-a-half-hour thriller, he had severe cramping, but that didn’t seem to stop the young Spaniard.

It looked like it would be tough sledding for Alcaraz, as Djokovic entered the match and in the first set looked like the seasoned vet he was in the situation, hence being undefeated. The man from Spain, however, stepped it up after dropping the second set and pulled out all of his skill sets to take three straight for the crown.

It’s nothing hard done for Djokovic, though. At 22 years old, Alcaraz is the world number one, and it’s only right that this next up-and-coming star is the one to finally take him down in this particular match.

Alcaraz joined Djokovic, Roger Federer, Andre Agassi, Rod Laver, Roy Emerson, Don Budge, Fred Perry, and Rafael Nadal as the only men in tennis history to win all four major titles in their career.
