The Rangers’ season is basically over, and with that, so is this core. It has been a bittersweet run, but it’s becoming increasingly clear that this team’s window is closed. With that being said, here are three players I think that the Rangers should move on from to kick off this “retool.”
I’m not including Trocheck 🙁
Artemi Panarin
An absolute staple and the best Rangers skater I’ve ever seen in my life, it is unfortunately time for Panarin to be dealt. Looking for a somewhat large and long contract at 34 years old, it does not make sense for the Rangers team, which is craving speed and youth, to re-sign him. They have already told him he will not be resigned, so we shall see where my king ends up.
Braden Schneider
Always a middle-of-the-road defenseman, Braden Schneider has had highs and lows over the last few years. Lately, he has been playing very sub-par, but still has decent value as a young, hungry defenseman who may just need a change of scenery in order to blossom.
Alexis Lafreniere
It’s taken me years to admit it, but Lafreniere is the biggest number one pick bust of recent years. He showed one season of insane talent, and after getting paid, has completely disappeared. He still has a bit of value being so young and admittedly showing up some nights, but it is definitely time for the Rangers to admit that Lafreniere just did not work out and send him on his way.
These are three players I think the Rangers need to move on from. Do you agree? Who else do you think should be moved on from?
