The USMNT earned a statement 3-2 victory over Senegal in one of its final preparations for the 2026 World Cup, showing both its potential and its areas for improvement.

Sergiño Dest opened the scoring after being set up by Christian Pulisic, who later doubled the lead with a composed finish. Senegal responded through Sadio Mané, who scored twice to erase the deficit, but substitute Folarin Balogun delivered the winner in the second half.

The result highlighted the attacking upside of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad. Pulisic looked sharp with a goal and an assist, Dest was dangerous pushing forward from defense, and Balogun provided an immediate spark off the bench. The U.S. consistently created chances through quick passing, movement, and transitions, generating 15 shots and threatening to score several more.

With many of the team’s top players combining effectively, the match offered one of the clearest glimpses yet of what the USMNT can look like at its best. The attacking depth, pace, and creativity on display gave supporters plenty of reason for optimism with the World Cup less than two weeks away.

While defensive mistakes allowed Senegal back into the match, the overall performance reinforced the belief that the U.S. has the talent to compete with quality opposition when its attacking pieces are firing. The Americans now turn their attention to a final warm-up against Germany before opening the World Cup against Paraguay.
